Located in Cook County, Illinois, Tinley Park has been rated by BusinessWeek magazine as one of the best places in the U.S. to raise a family. As one of Chicago’s fastest growing southern suburbs, the population of Tinley Park is quickly approaching 57,000. The community was incorporated in 1892, and over the last 20 years it has been the focus of a major renovation project on the downtown historic district. This includes the construction of a park by the Oak Park Ave. Metra train station, and a more recent South Street Project is aiming to build more than 220 apartments and considerable new commercial retail space.

Downtown Tinley Park hosts a variety of events throughout the year. The Downtown Tinley Boo Bash is great for families with young children, and free activities include hay rides, games, and trick-or-treating. Tinley’s Toyland Parade happens each December, and it helps the community to celebrate Santa’s arrival. Other popular events include the farmers market, holiday market, and the Downtown Tinley Bunny Hop.

In addition to the events held in Tinley Park, there are several attractions found here. The Odyssey Fun World is a popular amusement center, and the White Water Canyon Water Park is a fun place to cool off on a hot day. The First Midwest Bank Amphitheater hosts a variety of musical acts, and the stadium can seat 12,000 people.
